Hamburger reads keystrokes to do its job. You should know exactly where they go, what is retained, and what the app can reach before granting it access.

Stays on your machine

Your data does not become our product.

  • Every keystroke you type and every correction Hamburger makes.
  • Your adaptive model, including vocabulary and correction preferences learned from you.
  • Pinned, blocked, and custom words you explicitly manage.
  • Usage counters for your eyes only. Activity stores counts, never the words you typed.
  • Practice history, stored locally and independently resettable.

The narrow network boundary

Correction works offline. Three utilities do not.

License activation

Confirms that a paid copy is valid. It does not include what you type.

Update checks

Finds security fixes and new releases without sending correction data.

Crash reports

Help diagnose a failure. Typed text is excluded by design, not by preference.

You do not have to take this on faith. An outbound firewall such as Little Snitch or LuLu can show exactly what the app contacts.

Why macOS asks

Two serious permissions. Two narrow jobs.

A system-wide keyboard layer cannot work without hearing keys and writing the resolved word back. Hamburger explains both jobs before sending you to System Settings.

Input Monitoring

Lets Hamburger hear the physical keys you press so it can resolve the mirrored word.

Accessibility

Lets Hamburger replace the physical input with the corrected word in the app you are using.

This website

A small footprint here, too.

Cloudflare hosts the site and provides cookie-free page-view analytics. It sees request information such as IP addresses because it serves the page, but there is no advertising profile or cross-site tracking.

Purchase and license delivery are handled by a merchant of record. That provider receives the contact and payment details needed to complete the sale. Neither this website nor the merchant receives the words you type in Hamburger Keyboard.

A private keyboard should be ordinary.
