What does not yet.
Hamburger corrects what you type system-wide, so where it works depends on your Mac, your keyboard layout, and the app you are typing into. This page says exactly which.
Mac and
keyboard.
- macOS
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- Keyboard hardware
- Any keyboard your Mac already uses: built-in, Apple, or third party, wired or wireless. There is nothing to buy.
- Keyboard layout
- US QWERTY only in this release. The mirror pairs the two halves of that layout, so on AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, Colemak, and other layouts the wrong letters come out, or none. Pause Hamburger from the menu bar while you use another layout.
- Input methods
- Chinese, Japanese, and Korean input methods are not supported. Hamburger would rewrite the letters you type before the input method reads them. Pause it while you use one.
Apps and
text fields.
- Native Mac apps
- Mail, Notes, Pages, Messages, TextEdit, and other apps built on the standard Mac text system are where Hamburger works best.
- Browsers and Electron apps
- Correction works in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox, and in apps such as Slack, Discord, and VS Code. These apps draw their own text fields, so each one is checked before release. If a field ever misbehaves, pause Hamburger for that app.
- Password fields
- Never touched. When macOS marks a field as secure input, correction switches off and your keystrokes pass straight through.
- Terminals, code editors, remote desktops
- Commands and code are not words, so corrections there are usually wrong. Pause Hamburger in those apps; the pause is remembered per app.
When something
misfires.
A correction you did not want can be reversed on the spot, and holding Option while you press Space types the word exactly as you keyed it. Pausing from the menu bar stops correction everywhere until you resume, and pausing inside an app stops it only there.
